Fraud is thriving because we don't share. The latest white paper from the ACAMS International Anti-Fraud & Technology Task Force dives into why information sharing isn't happening, particularly in the private sector, and the options we have for fixing the problem. 🔑 Financial crime wins when we fail to collaborate. That was the message at last week's Singapore Conference 2026. Across the day, discussions focused on how quickly fraud, scams, sanctions, and cross‑border risks are evolving, and how these threats increasingly work in tandem. An effective response now looks like collaboration between fraud, cyber, AML, and risk experts so that we're prepared to move fast when threats arise. “When there are no clear benchmarks or guidance, responsibility sits with operators to think through guardrails and put products out in a safe, compliant and resilient way.” - Fiona C., Head of Compliance, OKX 💡 These conversations showcased a refreshing shift in mindset. Compliance today is less about ticking boxes and more about realized impact. In areas such as source of wealth, documentation, and regulatory expectations, sound judgement and clear corroboration are critical. Evolving technologies such as AI can support this work, but accountability still sits with the individual. Thank you to the anti-financial crime community for the openness, thoughtful engagement, and shared commitment that keep these conversations moving forward. We're excited to see how these gatherings continue to shape our adaptation to this ever evolving landscape.

Is the anti-money laundering industry a failure, or a success? In the latest episode of the Financial Crime Matters podcast, Kieran Beer talks with Oliver Bullough about his latest book, “Everybody Loves Our Dollars: How Money Laundering Won". Oliver argues that with financial crime taking up the same proportion of our global economy as it did in 1990, the AML industry is a failure. He faults several stakeholders in the current status quo. Not least, global governments’ deputization of the private sector in lieu of adequately empowering law enforcement and the courts to police the global economy. Listen to the full episode: https://lnkd.in/ePWPtZ6U What are your thoughts on the success of the AML industry?

The Assembly Hollywood 2026 is just a few weeks away. Who will we see in Florida this year? 🌎

What draws me to the ACAMS community is the quality of the conversation. It’s where I go to stay close to emerging trends across financial crime, sanctions and compliance, and to hear how others are responding to real change in the market. I also enjoy connecting with clients, peers and former colleagues who are dealing with the same challenges. This is a rapidly evolving space. The topics are serious and the pace is constant. I will be headed to ACAMS Hollywood in a few weeks and I am looking forward to connecting.
