Water is a critical component of data center development and operations, which not only power Google tools like Search and Maps, but also things like healthcare, online banking and 911 systems. The aggregate water consumption of U.S. data centers is small — they use less than 1% of the water that Americans use on their lawns annually. Nevertheless, we are focused on protecting local water resources in all aspects of our data center operations. That’s why we’re announcing several water stewardship commitments to be responsible and transparent in our water use. Learn more: https://goo.gle/4uJTPlL

“If you want a career where you can still be a builder, but your 'builds' directly shape the future of AI, the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) team is exactly where you belong,” says Flávio Franco, Managing Director AI Tech Lead for Google Cloud. “Because you are building with our newest AI models in the wild before anyone else, you serve as Google's 'ground truth.’ The friction you overcome and the novel solutions you code directly feed back into our engineering teams.” Flávio describes the day-to-day as a hybrid of strategic consulting, hands-on building and product development: 💡 Sitting down with customer executives to understand a business bottleneck — like how to completely reimagine their customer service using AI. 💻 Partnering with the customer's developers. The FDE is writing code, unblocking technical hurdles, and proving that our most advanced AI models can integrate with the customer's specific data securely. We’re taking you behind the scenes of how we made our “TPU Training Day” short film from #GoogleIO blending AI tools — including Nano Banana, Google AI Studio and Gemini Omni — with puppetry and traditional animation to give the film its charm. It started with a question: Could we make an animated film with simple materials like cardboard and markers, and then use AI to bring it to life? We worked with director Laurie Rowan and Nexus Studios on this unique approach, keeping human craft and artistry right at the heart of our film. Here’s how we did it 👇
