Wohoo, what a week!! 🎉💥🚀 This week, our team was at both #DAMOP26 🇺🇸 and #Q2B Tokyo ⛩️ — two mega important events on the journey of scaling quantum. At #DAMOP, the conversation was about pushing the boundaries of quantum science and experimentation. At Q2B, the focus shifted to scaling systems, building infrastructure, and turning quantum technology into something useful. But in both places, discussions hovered around the recurring theme: as quantum processors continue to improve, the control and orchestration layer is becoming increasingly important for turning performance gains into useful capabilities. Our team has been at #DAMOP26 all week, where we've been showcasing this demo and discussing one of the key challenges facing neutral-atom quantum computing: readout latency. Thousands of qubits are great. But if readout is too slow, quantum error correction stalls. In our latest blog, Unnati Akhouri, PhD describes how a CPU/GPU-integrated readout architecture, connected to the OPX1000 via OPNIC, closes the feedback loop in under 500 μs—bringing real-time correction, atom transport, and QEC decoding within reach. Yesterday, we posted about #Majorana fermions and Microsoft's recent announcement, from the perspective of one of our researchers, Tom Dvir, who worked on topological qubits for many years at TU Delft. But he is not the only one at QM for whom advances in Majorana qubits are personal. Our CTO, Yonatan Cohen, researched this important topic for his PhD thesis. We are still in the early stages of quantum computing, but the rate of progress is astonishing. Microsoft's latest announcement has put #Majorana qubits back in the spotlight. For Tom Dvir, our Head of Quantum Research Group, the story is also personal. Before joining QM, Tom spent years researching Majorana states in the group of Leo Kouwenhoven at TU Delft, helping pioneer an alternative approach based on quantum dots that culminated in a Nature paper. In this article, Tom explains what Microsoft's results actually show, why important scientific questions remain, and why the biggest challenge may not be proving the physics, but scaling it into a practical technology. A perspective from someone who has spent much of his career working on the very problem Microsoft is trying to solve.
