One of the most meaningful parts of leadership isn’t what we build in our own careers — it’s how we support the next generation as they build theirs. She cursed out her manager in front of a client and threw a stapler. But she’s "been going through a lot," so leadership wanted to hold off on any discipline. What are we doing? HR isn’t a trauma processing center. We’re here to enforce behavior standards..not interpret sob stories as strategy. And no, you don’t need a "soft landing" after threatening someone. You need a termination letter and a security escort. We can be human. We can’t be delusional.

Generac in Whitewater, WI is proud to support local innovation and STEM education. Recently, Generac donated used rack components to Ferradermis Robotics, a Whitewater-based high school robotics team that competes annually against teams from across the region and has proudly qualified for the World Championships for the past two years. This donation helps provide valuable materials for students to continue building, testing, and refining their robots while gaining hands-on engineering experience. A special shout-out to Matthew Doherty, Controls Engineer at Generac Whitewater, who serves as a mentor for the team. Matt works closely with students, teaching electrical systems and supporting the fabrication of the robot, an incredible example of how our employees give back and invest in the next generation of engineers. A new economic impact study from Indiana shows U. S. Steel’s long-term commitment to sustaining jobs and local quality of life in the state.    In FY2024, U. S. Steel supported 8,402 total jobs in Indiana. This includes high-wage, family-sustaining jobs for 4,341 employees at our facilities. These careers anchor communities in Gary, Portage, and surrounding areas, strengthening the region’s middle class. The study also looked at community engagement and philanthropy. In FY2024, U. S. Steel and our employees contributed time, goods, and financial donations valued at more than $2.7 million. Incredible!
