Amazing Game

First off, it is 100% free to play. Prior to playing WuWa, KoTOR I & II were the best games I’ve ever played. Wuthering Waves can easily be held to the same standard & expectations .. and surpasses them. Story, animation, sound, controls, quests, crafting/building, easter eggs, it just never fails to excel at everything. I have never been disappointed in an input, a story sequence, a hard quest. Rather I found (and find) myself constantly amazed. I catch myself simply gazing the surroundings and listening to all the ambient sounds, from all directions. Gameplay / Controls are well designed with the gamer in mind; very low learning curve. If I could say 1 thing to the entire team involved in the game, “Thank You”. This truly is the best game I have ever played, since the 70’s.

Decent Open-World RPG

It is gratifying to observe the proliferation of open-world RPGs featuring captivating scenery that are now natively accessible on macOS. Wuthering Waves performs reasonably well on my M1 MacBook Air, equipped with 8GB of RAM. The game supports controllers from Xbox Series SX, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5. When using my Xbox Series SX controller, all buttons are mapped correctly, with the exception of the “View” button, which is assigned to the “MAP” function. Currently, pressing the “View” button while in Wuthering Waves yields no response. Additionally, controller vibration is not functional. Last year, I tested the iPad version of “Honkai Impact 3rd” by Hoyoverse on this same M1 MacBook Air and all features of my Xbox Series SX controller, operate as intended (including vibration) during gameplay. There are some minor bugs, like if you use the controller to quit the game by holding the menu button on the controller, the game will present a the final confirmation window that requires you to click with the mouse’s cursor but the cursor will be stuck behind the GUI. Lastly, the game requires your Mac to be online during gameplay, meaning that if the KURO GAMES server should ever shut down, the game will no longer be playable. Despite these minor shortcomings, the Wuthering Waves offers a decent gaming experience on Mac. The storyline and characters are competent, the sceneries are spectacular and the music is tasteful. Given the developer’s proficiency in crafting a competent port for the Apple Silicon platform, I am confident that an update will address the controller support issues.

Good Visuals, Horrible story

Amazing Music, Fantastic Animations and Scenes, Incredible Character Design (some of the best in the Industry), you can FLY (genshin could NEVER) but horrible HORRIBLE story, Abby is annoying, Rover is the One Punch-Man without the irony! The story has zero depth and full of contradictions, it starts by pretending this is a post apocalyptic world but in 2.0 we have the most advanced city ever (obviously they realized you can’t make a beautiful and colorful city like genshin in a post apocalyptic world), Rover is basically Shiro from Fate series, a stupid and naive child who wants to save everybody and the story never punishes him, there is never any consequence for him, the story is without a sense of danger because nobody ever dies, it’s all fake threats, they say “Fate” is written but Rover just pops off ad changes it!, the story doesn’t know how to make the characters relatable, it just says “she has a tragic backstory with abusive parents” or something like that to gain your sympathy but zero originality in it, if it wasn’t for the music, I would have stopped playing this because it really is painful going through this
