Advancing child welfare requires informed and empowered voices from those who shape the public narrative. From May 4th to 8th, 2026, JamiiAfrica participated in a vital capacity-building training for children's journalists in Dar es Salaam, organized by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups alongside UNICEF. Centered on the theme "A Better Family, A Strong Nation," the initiative empowered media professionals to drive positive societal change by promoting core parenting pillars: caring for, protecting, and communicating with children. Over the five days, participants tackled critical issues ranging from maternal nutrition and online safety to disability inclusion and adolescent care, equipping them to use their platforms to advocate for a stronger, healthier generation. #JamiiAfrica #ChildrenWelfare

Just wrapped up the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2026 national celebrations in Arusha. Under the theme "Shaping the Future of Journalism: Innovation, Integrity, and Inclusive Growth." We showed how data-driven tools and fact-checking training under #JamiiCheck are giving journalists the ultimate cheat code to spot the fakes and turn citizen reporting into verifiable facts. A major highlight was co-hosting the April 29th breakaway session, "Reimagining Journalism: Inclusion, Integrity and Innovation," alongside Kike Africa and Nukta Africa Africa. The main takeaway? Protecting information integrity is highkey the backbone of a healthy democracy. The future of journalism has to be inclusive, truthful, and innovative—and we are so ready to keep building it. Let's get to work! #WPFD2026 #JamiiAfrica #JamiiCheck #MediaIntegrity #FutureOfJournalism

On April 30, 2025, JamiiAfrica and the Media Alliance of Zimbabwe co-hosted the Zimbabwe News Media Investment Indaba in Harare to address the severe "polycrisis" threatening the local media sector. Operating under the theme "Sustainable Journalism in the Age of AI and Digital Disruption," the event convened a diverse group of stakeholders including government ministries, journalism unions, and content creators—to tackle urgent challenges. JamiiAfrica leveraged its successful track record in East Africa to guide discussions on digital transformation and vital expertise on building resilient, community-driven digital platforms. Through these discussions we provided actionable strategies to help Zimbabwean media institutions foster public trust, resist censorship pressures, and navigate the difficult path toward financial sustainability. Ultimately, the Indaba served as a strategic milestone for JamiiAfrica, perfectly aligning with its Operational Expansion Strategy to build inclusive digital communities across Africa. The event allowed the organization to position itself as a regional leader in digital public interest infrastructure and transition from providing ad hoc support to establishing long-term ecosystem collaborations. #JamiiAfrica #JournalismAI

Hello there 👋 Are you attending #DRIF2026? If you are, you should join our panel! Look around you, digital tools are being used to monitor, restrict, and silence civil society across regions... For nearly a decade, we have been telling other people’s stories. During that time, we rarely shared our own. It wasn’t because we couldn’t; telling impactful stories is our mission. Instead, we wanted our impact to speak for itself through the voices of those we serve. Recently, we began sharing the untold stories of Nukta Africa by showing how our work truly changes lives. This is just one of hundreds we will share this year. Special thanks to our partners International Media Support (IMS), UTPC (Union of Tanzania Press Clubs) and JamiiAfrica for trusting us in transforming the media industry in Tanzania. #MediaForDevelopment #FactChecking #DesignThinking #ImpactStories
From December 1–5, 2025, a Human Centered Design (HCD) driven Innovation Lab to counter misinformation was held in Arusha, bringing together 21 media professionals from seven Tanzanian newsrooms. The initiative was led by IMS International in collaboration with JamiiAfrica, UTPC (Union of Tanzania Press Clubs), Nukta Africa and HCD Services TZ. The lab focused on co-creating practical solutions to address misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech. Using design thinking grounded in HCD, participants developed locally relevant media tools aimed at strengthening fact-checking, improving public awareness of information integrity, and supporting informed democratic participation. Key outcomes include prototype solutions tailored to Tanzania’s media landscape and strengthened collaboration across newsrooms both critical for scaling impact. The initiative lays groundwork for a more trustworthy and resilient information ecosystem in Tanzania. #factcheck #designthinking #innovationlab
