Estimating trip generation for mixed-use development takes context, and our MXD tool just got its biggest update since we first developed it over a decade ago. The 2026 version includes expanded research from 622 mixed-use sites across 30+ metro areas, integrates the latest ITE trip generation rates, and was validated with 2025 trip counts. The result is a more context-sensitive and accurate way to estimate trip generation for projects across the US, with the option to calibrate for local conditions. Seattle is preparing for a surge of people walking, rolling, and making quick trips between venues, transit, and downtown during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Shared bikes and scooters can help move that demand, but only if parking stays predictable and sidewalks stay clear. Seattle Department of Transportation's response: roughly 200 quick-build parking corrals downtown, sited where trip data and field verification said they’d actually get used. The system already passed an early test with the Seahawk’s Super Bowl parade, with sidewalks staying clear despite an influx of fans downtown. We were glad to support GreenPlum Street LLC on the screening and layout of the corral sites. Big milestone for #mobility at SDSU! 🚲🚌🚶♂️ After 1.5 years of collaboration with Fehr & Peers, SDSU’s Technical Committee, and the campus community, I’m excited to share the final draft of our new Transportation Demand Management Plan: SDSU on the Move: Transforming Transportation for a Growing Campus This plan is all about building a more #sustainable, #accessible, and #flexible transportation future for SDSU. The plan supports campus growth, reducing parking and traffic challenges, and creating more ways for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to get to and around campus. From shared mobility to #transit, #biking, #walking, #parking management, incentives, and new technology, SDSU on the Move lays out a bold roadmap for how we move forward. The plan used a detailed return-on-investment methodology, including qualatative and quantative analyses. I'm proud to help bring this work to this stage, and excited for what comes next. Thank you to Kellie Dugdale, Chelsea Richer, AICP, and Nicole Matteson for your work on this! Thank you to all of our campus partners who helped guide the planning process including Bruce Appleyard, Charlotte Roberts, Katie Crist, PhD, MPH, Stephen Greenwood, Hank Kaplan, Christopher Sumner, and Silvia Croft. We think legal should be a partner, not just a gatekeeper. We’re hiring an in-house attorney to join our legal team in either our Roseville or Walnut Creek office. We’re open to both full-time and part-time candidates. You won’t be lost in a large legal department. You’ll be one of two attorneys shaping how legal supports a 400-person firm, with real influence on how project managers across 24 offices think about risk. If you have 3+ years of experience, enjoy translating legal risk into plain language, and like the idea of working closely with engineers and planners doing meaningful transportation work, we’d love to hear from you. Flexible hybrid schedule. Mentorship and growth opportunities. Yesterday, Fehr & Peers brought together four of our newest senior safety leaders — Luana Ozelim Broshears, Margaret Herrera, P.E., Jessica S., and Rebecca Sanders, PhD, RSP2B — for a full onboarding day focused on where our safety practice is headed and how we're building it. The day covered our core approach and safety non-negotiables, the shifting federal landscape and what it means for state and local agencies, and how our safety team connects across disciplines in two-way conversations - institutionalizing Safe System best practices while also stress testing them for real-world contexts. We also spent time on the practical stuff: conferences, research pipelines, multi-disciplinary positioning, and how four new experts with different niches fit into the bigger picture. It's a really exciting time to be working in this space with this team - and it was a joy to get to facilitate and lead these discussions with Meghan Mitman, AICP, RSP2I!

Yesterday’s Bike Anywhere Day turned morning commutes across the San Diego region into moments of community. 🚲 Our San Diego team joined SANDAG and regional partners by hosting a pit stop at Broadway Pier, one of 116 stops supporting riders throughout the day. Over coffee, water refills, and bike gear, we connected with people biking to work, school, the beach, and everywhere in between. We especially enjoyed meeting riders trying to visit as many pit stops as possible, as well as commuters pairing biking with the ferry to Coronado as part of their trip. Those moments highlighted how active transportation and multimodal travel can help create a more connected region. Thank you to San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) for continuing this long-standing regional tradition. Shoutout to Lydia Rowen, Nicole Matteson, Gabriel Garcia, and Sonja Magnuson from our San Diego office for helping welcome riders throughout the morning. Already looking forward to next year. #BikeAnywhereDay #NationalBikeMonth #ActiveTransportation #SanDiegoRegion #CommunityConnections

We're proud to celebrate the completion of the Limonite Gap Closure Bridge in Eastvale, California! Working alongside the City, our team delivered an innovative lighting design that brings this bridge to life by illuminating the roadway, pedestrian and bike paths, view plazas, and the bridge façade itself. Every detail was designed to highlight the bridge's unique decorative elements while creating a safe, welcoming environment for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers after dark. Projects like this remind us why thoughtful design matters. Congratulations to the entire team and the City of Eastvale on this milestone. The way people move through Oregon communities is changing, and street design decisions made today will shape safety and mobility for decades. That work takes more than technical expertise. It takes engineers who can carry a project from design through delivery, while listening closely to community context. We’re hiring an Experienced Transportation Design Engineer in Portland, a senior role for someone ready to lead delivery, grow client relationships, and mentor others. What you’ll lead: • PS&E for complete streets, bikeways, traffic signals, signing and striping, and lighting, applying MUTCD, AASHTO, and ODOT standards • Safety countermeasure selection and design for intersections, crossings, and corridor improvements • Project management and coordination with public agencies, plus community engagement to shape outcomes • Proposals and interviews, helping bring in new work If you have 7 to 12 years of transportation engineering experience and hold a PE (or are on track to), apply here: https://lnkd.in/gKJH6J8c Know someone who’d thrive in this role? Tag them in the comments. #TransportationEngineering #CompleteStreets #VisionZero #RoadSafety #PortlandJobs #Hiring
