Wilder alumni Rep. María Isa Pérez-Vega is a powerful example of how the Community Equity Program helps neighbors build collective power at the Capitol. This cohort experience provides Black, Indigenous, and People of Color with the tools to advocate for state-level legislation and challenge existing systems. María Isa credits the program for growing her village and providing a supportive space to be her authentic self while fighting for social justice. When developing new work reporting requirements for Medicaid this session, Minnesota policymakers must broadly define exemptions while increasing flexibility for enrollment and enforcement. They must minimize red tape by simplifying processes and strengthening eligibility and enrollment; otherwise, ELIGIBLE Minnesotans will lose coverage.
