Grateful to Jackson Gunvalson and our entire advocacy team for their tireless work at the Capitol this session! From Advocacy for Children Day to our first-ever 211 hearing, United Way's presence at the Capitol this year was bigger than ever. More reflections from Jackson below ⬇️
With the end of the Minnesota Legislative Session earlier this week, I’ve had some time to reflect on the advocacy work of the last few months at Greater Twin Cities United Way with my amazing colleagues, Stephannie L. Lewis, MPP and Ivette A Izea-Martinez. The session was full of powerful and memorable moments from Advocacy for Children Day to testimony in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee on our 211 legislation. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of such a strong team and to work alongside partners across the state to advocate for Minnesotans and meaningful policy change. It’s hard to leave any session without wanting more, but I always try to stay optimistic and focus on the progress we’ve made. While many headlines highlighted the $205 million to stabilize HCMC, the establishment of the Office of Inspector General, and the $1.2 billion bonding bill for infrastructure, I see the $40 million for the Family Homeless Prevention Assistance Program (FHPAP) as a true bright spot. This funding will help ensure more Minnesotans can secure and maintain stable housing. I’m looking forward to enjoying the summer sun and continuing important work outside of the legislative session!

In honor of National Volunteer Month in April, team members across the United States and Canada joined forces for our annual ‘Ingredients for Good’ volunteer initiative. This volunteer effort marks the fifth year of the employee-led initiative and a major milestone for Post Consumer Brands. We are proud to report that we have now invested $1.2 million in food donations to the communities where we live and work. Check out the video below to find out more! Our Senior Donor Advisor Todd Western III will be a guest panelist for Amplified Voices: Global Impact - Critical Community Conversations as a part of the 2026 George Floyd programming series. The event will be streaming today at 1 p.m. on KFAI 90.3 and on https://lnkd.in/gXm6tNwJ.
Tomorrow, I have the honor of joining an important conversation as a panelist for Amplified Voices: Global Impact – Critical Community Conversations, part of the 2026 George Floyd programming series. We’ll be exploring the lens of Economic Justice—digging into ownership, access, investment, entrepreneurship, and what it truly takes to rebuild wealth in our communities. As a 6th-generation farmer and steward of the oldest Black-owned farm in Iowa, this conversation is deeply personal. My family’s story is one of resilience, land ownership, and legacy—values that stand at the core of economic justice. If you're in the Twin Cities, join us: 📍 Worldwide Outreach for Christ 3808 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 🗓 Thursday, May 21, 2026 🕐 1:00 PM

Thank you to our entire community for supporting Flavors of Our Community this year! Because of you, we will provide over 32,000 culturally familiar meals to families across the Twin Cities. 🎉 We couldn’t do this work without your support. A special thank you to local Hy-Vee, Inc. stores for donating a portion of steak dinner sales in April to help provide even more meals for our neighbors.
